When you grow up in New Orleans you don’t realize how special it is until you move away. I grew up in Gentilly and later on lived in New Orleans East. It wasn’t until I moved away, first temporarily to Oklahoma City then to Houston for my career, that I became aware that New Orleans is unique in the world. It’s a fairly big city that can have a small town feel. It’s a place where six degrees of separation often is only one or two. It’s the home of incredible food, people, and experiences that could never be replicated anywhere else in the world.

From playing poker for pennies, spades, and hearts with my cousins growing up to playing more and more complex board games through my teens games have always been part of my life. When I started my career as an Air Traffic Controller with the FAA I was given a copy of the rules of air traffic I commented to a classmate that I felt good about being able to do the job. He asked why and I told him that the rulebook was about half the size of one of the games I had been playing.

I created Gentilly Games to try to bring a small slice of New Orleans to the rest of the world through games.
