It All Begins with an Idea

Growing up in New Orleans is unique to say the least.  It isn’t until you live somewhere else that you realize how special it is.  While growing up on Mexico Street in Gentilly I took many things for granted.  Whether it was the amazing food, or the unique celebrations New Orleans was in my blood.  No matter where in the world I travelled I always compared it to home, and it usually fell well short.

From an early age playing games has been part of my life.  It started with playing basic card games like go fish with my cousins. Through the years the games got more complex and entertaining.  Playing games like Risk or Axis and Allies with a group of friends would take hours but they passed like minutes.  I wanted to find a way to combine these two things, my love of New Orleans and for games.  That is why created Gentilly Games.

Logo for Gentilly Games

The inspiration for the logo came from the Pontchartrain Beach amusement park.  As a kid I spent many a summer evening there enjoying the rides and the midway.  The mid-century modern and art deco buildings stayed with me long after the park closed for good in the 1980s.
