The Second Game

I had an idea for a second New Orleans themed game, but I wasn’t sure how to implement the game without it becoming an immense and expensive game.  As you may know the more “parts” a game has the more expensive it becomes.  As I had originally conceived this game it was going to have a game board that was around 24 inches wide and tall.  This would be larger than a Monopoly or Scrabble board.  Then there would be the pieces used in the game with somewhere around 40 to 60 total.  This was getting expensive, so I put it on the back burner of my mind and kept my focus on Geaux Parade. Then I went to ProtoATL.

The ProtoATL convention held in May of 2024 was an amazing experience.  Not only did I get to playtest my game around 20 times while changing rules to enhance the game, I got to playtest many other games.  I have been out of the world of table top gaming for many years and it was great to see all of these great game concepts.  Some used the “standard” game mechanics, while others used unique concepts or combinations of concepts.  In playing some of these games I had an epiphany about my second game.

Instead of using a game board, tokens, and other pieces the second game from Gentilly Games will also be a card game.  This will help to keep costs down as it keeps the box size and weight down and simplifies the production process.

Be on the lookout for more information as development progresses on the second game.
